How To Lift Your Self-Success Mechanism
Do automobiles have a self success mechanism? In a way yes…Can you think of a time when the dashboard of you car showed a flashing light warning you that something was wrong and you had to get it “checked?”
What did you do?
Stared and on gazed at the blinking light until you got your car off the road? Of course not!
One thing is sure, if you were on the highway when you saw these negative indicators you did what common sense told you. You glanced at the light, kept your focus on the road and looked up through the windshield for a gas station while preparing to exit the highway and take positive action to fix the problem. This is called self- success mechanism and we all have it inside of us!
This example totally applies to real life situations, let me explain… You must glance at the negative but keep your focus on the positive.
When used correctly, negative thinking can give us the signs we need to take positive actions and re-engage on a clear path and guide us towards success.
We have to pay attention (glance) at the negative so we can more easily stay clear of it and re-align with our positive focus.
Here are 4 ways to make the negative work for us and guide us to Lift Your Self-Success Mechanism
1 ~ We have to be sensitive to the negative to the extent that it can alert us to danger.
2 ~ We recognize the negative for what it is; something undesirable, something we don’t want, something that doesn’t bring genuine happiness.
3 ~ We take immediate corrective action and substitute an opposite factor from the success mechanism. Such practice will in time create an automatic reflex that becomes part of our inner guidance system.
4 ~ Negative feedback or thought will serve as sort of an automatic control to help us steer clear of failure and guide us to success.
Take a few minutes towards the end of each day or mid-day, find a quiet place, close your eyes, enter your imagination so as to revisit the days event or behaviors.
Congratulate yourself on all Self-Success Mechanism actions but take note of automatic failure mechanism (AFM)…The flashing lights.
Tell yourself that automatic failure is not you… it’s not part of your personality and it is not to be tolerated. If any corrections can be made for anything negative that occurred, by all means makes them.
Be the bigger person by going to someone who deserves your apology, your gratitude or your congratulations.
Analyze your thoughts and actions of the day and in terms of contributing towards achieving your goals.
Compare Self-Success Mechanism VS Automatic failure mechanism …Do not fear self analysis! Stick with YOUR private “self-coaching to eliminate self-loathing.
Conclude your private critique of the day by identifying the positive and the re-commitment to your goals and ideals.
By working harder on yourself than you do on your business, you will develop a winning personality and take on new roles in your life!

E: Esteem
S: Self-acceptance

My post today was inspired by: The New Psycho-Cybernetics (Tap into the Power of the New Psycho-Cybernetics) By Dr. Maxwell Maltz and Dan Kennedy
This video was taped in 1997. It looks a little like an episode of the twilight zone but I think it’s awesome… We meet Dr. Maxell and my favorite part comes at 7 minutes into the video when Dr. Maxwell shows a painting Salvator Dali (One of my all time favorite artist) and explains how Dali rendered his vision of Psycho-Cybernetics… Wow!

Hi Nathalie,
thank you for your great post and the video.
I am glad you are spreading the awareness of this!
Maxwell Maltz’s book Psychocybernetics has been one of my major turning points about twenty years ago when I did a course which used the book as a foundation. From there I ended up doing the facilitators course to teach the courses.
To your Success!

Hi Shelly,
Glad you liked it…I think it is becoming my all time favorite as well
Aloha Natalie, wonderful post on self success and I like your analogy relating to car problem indicator. I know at times, I handle my car problems quickly and some other times I let it go. I suppose it can relate to how I take care of things in general, but I do stay on top of things. We have to be responsible for our own life and choices we make. Glad I came by and thanks for sharing! Hello Lani,
Glad you came by as well… I like what you are saying about sometimes action quickly on situations and sometimes letting it go…I think it is so important to prioritize our actions and fallow our guts more…We know what’s best for us and the people we care about … Have a great weekend Lani.
Self image and the distortion of our image is the basis of our behaviour, thank sNathalie for reminding me we live in al illusion and since it is an illusion let’s make this illusion a dream, an image we are proud of, an image of excellence whereby we are focused on others rather than on our fears, so that we can serve and be a difference in the world. Salvador0s Dali’s picture says it all;)
Thanks Nathalie!

Loved your comment! You make a great point about focusing on others and yes!….Dali’s painting is awesome and I love to hear Dr. Maltz explain it’s meaning. I am considering painting my own reproduction of the painting…I love Dali and studied his work while in College…genius!
Hey Nathalie,
Excellent post and now I’m curious and would like to read Maxwell Maltz’s book Psychocybernetics as it really looks like it offers some very strategic tips there.

Psycho Cybernetics is quickly becoming my favorite book. I hope you read it…you will be happy you did…
I have that book and it has been awhile since i read it… If I just look up to my right there on the shelf guess what I find!! Very interesting read… I will have to review it!! thanks for the reminder!! In reference to what you say above re the negative thinking, it is so important to have that so that we can refocus and work toward the positive.. that law of opposites!! Can’t have one without the other! Great post Nathalie!

Terrific advice Nathalie. It’s tough enough when we are aware of the negativity, but I think one of the biggest challenges we have is rooting out pesky hidden limiting beliefs … the stuff that’s clung to us undetected for years, and keeps tripping us up at the most inopportune times. It’s definitely worth the effort to do the work to rid ourselves of that baggage. Thanks!

I remember Psycho Cybernetics from many years ago when my parents were taking a class that had that book as the core. I’m thinking I need to get my hands on their books.
I like the part about glancing at the negative but keep your focus on the positive. You do need to see the negative if you want to make the adjustments to get to where you want to go.
